I know a minimal amount of Spanish and even less in Chinese and I'm planning on taking a shot in the dark and doing the language placement tests to see if I can get out of my foreign language requirement.

However, I'm pretty sure testing into level 4 of either language will be nearly impossible for me.

And I simply do not have the time in my schedule to have a language.

Am I able to take my language at a community college and transfer them over?

Is forergn language required in UCLA?

Yes you can take it at a community college. I believe you have to pass the 2nd level of the foreign language (I think most CC are semester systems).

Yes, if you are in the college of letters and science then you have to fulfill the foreign language requirement.

As long as those credits transfer from the community college, you’ll be good to go. You won’t be allowed to concurrently enroll, but if you want to take it during the summer, that should be fine. Check with a counselor to make sure the class will transfer!

Requirements vary depending on what specific school you’re in, and taking and passing a level 3 course of a foreign language is required at UCLA for students in the College of Letters and Science.
