Foreign Language requirement- credit from middle school?

I took Spanish 101/2 and 201/2 in 7th and 8th grade and was in Spanish 301/2 and Spanish IV my freshman and sophomore year. Then I did not continue AP Spanish to instead double up in chemistry and physics.

For colleges that recommend or require 4 years of foreign language does this count? I know the courses are the exact same, but I'm wondering if taking it before high school counts as part of the 4 years.

I think it would because even if I took AP Spanish that would only be 3 high school years of spanish and I could not continue on in high school to four...

Thanks

Most often the requirement/recommendation of 4 years of a language means that you’ve completed courses through level 4 of the language. How you reached level 4 is typically not the issue.

If you’re in doubt, check with the admission office of the college/colleges that you’re considering.
