<p>Penn doesn’t seem to have a required number of years, unless you want in on the Huntsman program–then you should take four and make the fourth an A.P. or college level course. </p>
<p>At least three years is always good though, and if you don’t want to take languages at Penn, you should just get it over with in high school so you can place out.</p>
<p>No official requirement, but I’d assume you’d need a good reason not to do all four.</p>
<p>My understanding is that most of the colleges have a placement exam for language anyway. At my school, the foreign language program is not good, so I much rather take another (challenging) class than spend another year doing nothing.</p>
