I am currently a college freshman double-majoring in International Studies and Political Science. My plan at the moment is to go to law school and get into a joint mater's program such as International Affairs or International Development. Up until this point I have had 5 years of French. Due to my schedule for my remaining time in college (mainly due to the fact that I plan to be off campus for a semester) I am unable to take any further foreign language classes. I can hold a general conversation in the language and have a good understanding as well. I know most master's programs in International Affairs require some knowledge of foreign language. So my question is how bad would it hurt my chances of getting into an International Affairs program with only 5 years of a foreign language? Would I be better to forget the idea of studying off campus for a semester in order to make room for French?
