What is the foreign language requirement? Can you pass out of this requirement? If so, how? Thanks.

The requirement is 4 semesters worth. You can pass out if you get a 4 or 5 on your AP exam or you can take the placement test. A lot of people pass out of a few semesters. If you take an AP language class and are doing decent, you can pass the placement test easily. It is not difficult (acc. to my Spanish teacher).

Can I take a Spanish SAT II?

or French for that matter?

I don't think so.

Bump, anyone know for certain? I can't seem to find anything on their website.

SAT II's are not needed to determine academic placement with the rare possibility that the SAT II foreign language exam may be used to determine foreign language placement.

From their website...I don't think an 800 on an SAT II test will get you any credit. You may be able to start with more interesting classes though.

SAT II does not allow you to place it out of any requirement in any university. If you get a 5 on a foreign Language AP, you get credit, but you are not absolved of your 4 semesters of Foerign Language requirement at Michigan. However, if you speak another language fluently, and can prove it in an oral and written test, you can wave the Foreign Labguage requirement. But to do that, you have to speak it and write it as well as you do English.

Alexandre, i'm pretty sure you're wrong in that. The credit you get from AP is from a class that is higher than the first 4 semesters of the language requirement, so from that combined with what I remember from orientation, i'm nearly certain a 4 or 5 will get you out of the requirement.

Then they probably changed their policy regarding languages. That's too bad.
