I didn’t learn about NYU’s Business and Political Economy major until mid-November, which was enough to make NYU my #1. My application was all ready to go until I realized I only had 2 years of a foreign language. Does this make me completely ineligible for admission/is it even worth still applying?
Just for context, I have a 1490 on the SAT and 4.0 with 13 AP’s, 4 honors, and calc 3 (idk if these stats would be enough for them to overlook the missing language)
I’d say it’s probably worth a try, as long as you understand that Stern itself has admit rates almost comparable to the ivies and any application is going to be a reach.
Nobody here works for NYU admissions so nobody can give you an answer with certainty. My guess is that having two years of foreign language will not automatically disqualify you but not having all the recommended HS coursework could put your application at a disadvantage. I would certainly give NYU a shot if it is your top choice.
If there is a reason you only took two years of foreign language (ex. that is all your HS offers) ask your guidance counselor to note it in your letter of recommendation. Note that you preferring to take other classes rather than foreign language is not a valid excuse.
