I have been looking to apply to UT Austin and on their application, they say that they want two years/credits of a foreign language, with a semester counting as half of a credit. I have taken Latin 1, 2, and 3, each of them being a semester. Does this mean I cannot apply here? Virtually every other college I have looked at has been fine with 3 foreign language credits like this so I am not sure. Thank you!
Just apply and let UT Austin do the work.
Are you in-state? Texas (public) high school credits are usually awarded .5 credit per semester. If you are out of state or if your school has some different system then I would call or email the admissions office and ask. I know some schools are on a block schedule system so you may be fine with Latin 1, 2 and 3. In our high school they only offer Spanish. So for two years of foreign language you would take Spanish 1a in the fall and Spanish 1b in the spring.
