Foreign Language Requirements

So Most of the colleges I am looking at would like to see four years of a foreign language (Recommended it to be the same one). Well I am in an awkward situation because I will only be able to complete 3 years of the same language. I've taken French 2h, French 3h, and I skipped 4h to go into AP. Well senior year, there is nothing past AP french so I will be unable to take another french course to get the 4 years of a language.

Do you think colleges would see this and understand that my proficiency allowed me to skip a level and got me in this position? Would it be better for me to sign up for Spanish I or German senior year for that 4th year of language.

I can manage easy A in spanish or German because I already speak them (Mom is Argentinian, and Jewish so she taught me Spanish and Yiddish).

Anyways, back on track: Would it be okay having only these three years and not doing a 4th year of language so I can do an AP Science (physics B) instead?

When colleges recommend for years of the language, they mean four of the same one since they’re looking for proficiency. So you’re wasting your time with another one. If you are concerned about how colleges might see it then you can ask your counselor to make a note of it in her/his letter. I guess, and mind you this is only a guess, they will realize you’ve taken as much as you could if you have the AP class.
