Chris, I have a question about foreign language requirements. My understanding from the Stonybrook website is that one needs to score an 85 on the regents, or take two semesters of a foreign language. We are OOS, so my son does not take regent exams. Does this mean that he would need to pass some other objective exam if he elected to attend Stonybrook, or take 2 semesters of a foreign language? My other son is currently in an OOS public in another another state, and for his major he is not required to take any foreign language courses in college. Thank you.

NEMom - The requirement can be fulfilled by an 85 in a third-level (10th or 11th grade, depending on the school) course grade.

If he has some fluency in another language, he could take what we call a "challenge exam" to fulfill the requirement; but if he has an 85 from Spanish 3 (or whatever) in high school, just have him send his HS transcript. Hope this helps.
