Foreign Language Requirements

From Canada here and only decided to apply to the US half a year ago, and someone told me about basic foreign language course (in high school) requirements for university admissions. I'm extremely confused because Canadian universities don't have any course requirements other than Grade 12 ones. I'm not in IB and foreign languages are not really very popular here, so I've only taken two years of French and that's it. I'm planning to apply to MIT, Penn, and Cornell.

So what I wanna know is whether these requirements actually exist for these universities, and whether my two years of French fulfill them. If it helps anything, I took the Chinese SAT last week, so would that fulfill the requirement?

Thanks in advance.

Nope, there are no requirements, only “recommended” courses for foreign languages. As a fellow Canadian, I know what it’s like! Foreign languages aren’t popular and not many besides French are even offered. I am applying to Cornell, too. I don’t think they will reject you simply because you didn’t take 4 years of a foreign language :)

I also took 2 years of French.
