Foreign Language?

Hi,

Next year my schedule will be Theology 3 (I go to a catholic school), AP US History, AP English Language, Anatomy (Honors), British Lit (Honors), Geometry (Advanced), and probably an elective course and foreign language to fill eight class periods.

The problem is my foreign language. I HATE Latin, and have already taken 1 and 2 (both honors). The class is supposedly incredibly hard in the third year, and with APUSH and Brit Lit (the teacher at my school is crazy hard), I don't want to take on too much for me to handle. Plus, at my school, you can only take Honors Latin, so it's not like I could drop down to advanced and excel there.

Many of the colleges recommend (and some require three years), would it kill my resume if I only took two years of Latin, and then two years of honors French?

Thanks.

Typically, they look for the highest level completed. Taking Latin 3 would typically be better than taking Latin 2 and French 2.

If you already have some knowledge of French (e.g. as a heritage speaker) so that you can start in a higher level course than French 1, then you may be able to complete a higher level than French 2 before graduation.

Check out the schools that you may apply. Many schools recommend or even require 3 or 4 years of the same world language. You need to at least fulfill the requirement. For more competitive schools, treat all recommendation as requirement.
