Hello,
I am currently a junior. I was trying to make a sketch of my next years schedule as a senior and I realized I have a schedule conflict. I realized I could resolve it by not taking a foreign language in senior year. However, I have only take 2 language courses (Korean 3 and Korean 4 Honors). Is this ok for universities such as UC Berkeley, Northwestern, MIT, CalTech? Do I have to take another year?
This is my schedule
- Gov/Econ Ap (This is a combo class for my school–1 day Gov Ap and the next day Econ Ap)
- Band
- Literature AP
- Chemistry AP
- Physics AP
Calculus Multivariable at a community college and online computer science ap
Many colleges recommend having three years of foreign languages like the UCs. It is not required to take three years, you should look up on those colleges that you want to go to as requirements can vary, but two years could put you at a slight disadvantage in my opinion. It’s very useful to take at least three years.
I am pretty sure that colleges care about the level reached as opposed to how many years you physically sat in a language classroom in high school. OP should be fine
Since you are currently taking/have already taken Korean 4 Honors, that will count as 4 years. You do not need to take another year of it if you don’t want to/can’t.
