Would it look bad for me if I had the chance to take AP Spanish Literature, but chose to take a different AP class, AP Chem?
I basically took Spanish 1 and 2 Honors in middle school. Then I took Spanish 3 Honors as a freshman. Then I took AP Spanish Language. My school offers AP Spanish Literature, but I didn’t take it.
It may depend on your intended major when you apply to college and the context of the rest of your course selections.
Since you have completed AP level of Spanish, it won’t look bad, except in specific situations like indicating intended major in Spanish literature or writing essays about how focused you are on Spanish language and literature or some such where one would expect a student to choose AP Spanish literature. But in some other situations like general interest in literature and humanities, it could look better to take AP Spanish literature.
Of course, if you intend to be a chemistry or biology major, taking AP chemistry makes sense.
The above assumes applying to a college with some sort of subjective review. If you apply to colleges that just admit by stats, and you meet their minimum admission requirements for course selection, it should not matter.
