Will only taking three years of foreign language hurt me? Personally, I am sick and tired of the Spanish system at my school and Spanish IV only occurs during first period, in which I am taking European History instead. Will it hurt me though not to have four years of Spanish for consideration at the top level schools?

The answer is: Yes, it will hurt you.

4 years is the best. otherwise, be sure to let your counselor explain why you didn't take spanish.

Why take something that you hate? I don't know of any schools that require four years.

I don't know of any school that requires four years, it is just very common in their applicant pools

To get an "advanced diploma" in my school, only 3 years is needed, but i already acheived that reqiurement my freshman year, but I love spanish and will be at level 6 by senior yr. My friend doubled up on languages (latin and spanish) and will graduate with 9 yrs (combined) of 2 foreign languages. So what I'm saying, is the more the merrier. It wouldnt hurt you either way, if taking spanish constricts with your schedule. Just take as many advanced classes as you can that your sched. will allow.
