I am applying to UCB (Haas), UCLA (bus-econ), UCSD (Econ), Columbia (GS), and NYU (Stern). I have a 3.94 with 75 units complete. I am only taking Accounting 2, Calc 2 and Spanish 2 this semester. Do you think it would affect my chances if I took Spanish 2 pass/fail? It would mean less stress for me and I haven't taken any other class pass/fail. Thanks in advance for your help.

Not that the previous replies haven't been extremely helpful but does anybody else have an opinion. lol

Honestly, I don't think it would matter at all. Otherwise, why would Cal allow students to take 3 P/NP courses to fulfill their breadth?

maybe she needs a bit of ego boost

well.. don't we all :P

^what? I gave you my stats so you could see a more complete picture. For example, if I had only taken 30 units with a 3.5 it might make more of an impact. I am not sure... that is why I am asking. Honestly if you have nothing to say it is ok to just say nothing. :)

Nope! Not at all. I'm here at Berkeley now, with an even lower GPA than you (the highest it could be, depending on how you calculate it, is 3.75), and I took BOTH Italian 10A (first + second quarter Italian) and Italian 2 (second semester Italian) P/NP.

I think you'll be fine.

UCB/UCLA: Safe match

Thank you :)

i wouldnt stress about it and take it P/NP since you already have a high GPA and also because they allow you to take three P/NP for HAAS. in addition, wouldnt they not even know if you were taking this class P/NP until after you were accepted and requested your transcripts or do you have to tell them you are taking it P/NP

That is a good point Xferstd. I guess they wouldn't know before making their decision.
