ive changed my course selection for next year over 5 times already, but im still confused… do i take the 4th year of a foreign language?.. or do i take something else because the spanish teachers a b****.

sorry for all the help im askin for, its jus… your opinions do matter…

Courses for Senior Year:
Eng 4 AP
Physics C Mech AP
Calc BC AP
Chem 2 AP
European Hist AP
Student Council
Spanish 4 AP (or PSYCHOLOGY AP)

that last choice, spanish or psych, is all the confusion, i can def. get an A in psych, and spanish, because of the teacher, ill most probably get a B (not to mention a year of her mood swings, bad attitude, and horrible teaching methods…)…

but if its crucial that i have a 4th year of a language, i can deal with it…
please let me know ASAP as to what i should do, because the schedule was due a few days ago… haha.

i wouldn't say its crucial, but i'd almost definitely go with spanish. physics c and chem ap in the same year huh? i'm doing that right now. its a *****.

If you think you could possibly pull an A- the first semester, I'd say go for Spanish. It seems a shame to take three (or more) years of Spanish and not finish it off with an AP class and exam.

no its impossible to pull of A-, that doesnt exist in her vocabulary.. she either gives out As or Bs, mostly Bs unless you ace her class, which is impossible because.. she doesnt teach it.. its absolutely ridiculouss.. i guess itd be worth finishing the 4th year of the langauge, but i have alot of other stuff goin to. maybe that'll cover it up?.. like working at a lab in the summer with gene therapy, all those other courses, board member positions for extra curr. , etc.. i dont know.. its a confusing state of mind im stuck in, one day im for spanish, the next i refuse to deal with that lady for another year..

Hey guess what-- you don't need Spanish so don't take it if you don't want to.

It has nothing to do with grades. You simply won't need that other year if you don't want it. I'm a sophomore at Brown (well.. a junior in a week) and I never took the extra language.

That was something that bugged me about this year. I had just finished Spanish III, and while it was recommended that I continue to IV, there just wasn't room in my schedule. I wanted to have 4 APs (Chem, English, USH, and Psych), and the other two slots went to newspaper and pre-calc. The only realistic option for fitting Spanish IV in was to replace AP Psych, but at the time I really was interested in the course (though I was stuck with an awful first-year teacher and basically wasted time).

Still, I don't regret it because I never enjoyed Spanish, whereas I actually wanted to take a course in Psych, and it's not a requirement for the schools I'm looking at.
