Foreign language?

With the competition of medical schools nowadays, it seems to me like being nearly fluent in a foreign language would be a desirable skill to possess. However, is it necessary? If you are not even close to even proficient in a foreign language but are exceptional in all other aspects (i.e. 4.0 GPA and VERY high MCAT), do you even have a chance at medical school? Plenty of my own doctors are uni-lingual and they're doing just fine, but they went to medical school 20+ years ago. What are the standards of today?

Thanks!

Of course it's not necessary.

Thanks for the reply! You weren't being sarcastic, were you? lol Sorry if you weren't but I just never know with these CC'ers! ;)

It's really not necessary.

Sarcasm would be:
"Every medical school requires that all students speak fluent Estonian. Failure to meet this requirement will always result in automatic rejection."

hahaahaha Okay, thank you very much!!!
