What are the top undergrad/grad schools for foreign language? Like Russian & Eastern European Studies. Maybe German and French also. Are the master programs hard to get into at top schools if you have a high GPA and GRE?

Tufts, Cornell, Bard

middlebury is world-famous

Wisconsin offers the most languages. Lots of area studies too.

Middlebury is arguably the most famous LAC for foreign languages. They offer Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish as majors. I don't think you'll find any Eastern European instruction aside from Russian there, however.

Cornell cannot be overlooked, especially for less common languages. One of my pie-in-the-sky dreams is to get a Master's in medieval languages and linguistics from there. Be sure to request one of their (massive) catalogues.

I have a friend majoring in Russian and Eastern European languages at Macalester. She's currently in Moscow, spending the summer between freshman and sophomore years there and having a blast.

Probalby check out the UCs and the Ivy League, maybe Stanford.

I was looking at Yale Grad School and they offer a MA in European & Russian Studies as well as Slavic Languages & Literatures.

How hard are these programs to get into?
