I'm trying to figure out my schedule for my senior year, and I'm not quite sure whether to take a third year of Latin. I know Duke says they recommend 4, but I don't really have room in my schedule. I have 2 so far, and if I take a third It'll mean I'll have to knock out a much more difficult AP course, probably Psych. I guess the question is whether they would rather me have 3 easy yrs of Latin or 2 yrs plus an extra AP.

P.S. They don't even have a Latin IV at my school

I would definitely go with the Latin over a fluff AP like Psychology, especially if you plan to apply to Trinity. You can probably skirt by with three years of foreign language like I did (although I applied to Pratt), but I doubt two would cut it, even with the extra AP (which, by the way, you could probably self-study fairly easily).

On a side note, I’m planning on taking 3 AP’s next year. That plus the two I’ve already taken will give me 5 out of I think 12 that my school offers. Do you guys think that’s a challenging enough course rigor?

It depends on your course of study. Take all you can in your planned major and several others in core subjects (i.e. English, Mathematics, etc.), and you should be fine.
