Foreign Language?

I am currently a junior in high school. I am taking Latin I this year, and I am going to take Latin II next year. During my freshman year, I took Spanish I. I'm wondering if this will look bad when I apply for colleges.

It's a long story why I didn't take more Spanish classes.

I took Spanish I my freshman year because I had a free period. Then sophomore year came, and I was accepted into my school's symphonic band. I talked to my counselor at school, and she told me it would be better to take band, and so I did. I planned to take Spanish II at a community college the summer between my freshman and sophomore year, but after applying to all the colleges in my area, I was rejected because I was too young. Then I tried to take Spanish II online during my sophomore year, but there were other complications with schooling and my health, and so I didn't. Then it was the summer before my junior year, and I wanted to apply to community colleges again. But they required that I take a placement test. I took a practice one, and I failed. I figured it would be a waste to pay for a placement test and then have to take Spanish I all over again. And so, I decided to take Latin I online, which I am currently doing.

I know most colleges require 2 years of foreign language, and they recommend 3 years. I have 1 year of Spanish and 2 years of Latin. I want to know if this will look bad when I apply and if it will hinder my chances of getting to accepted to colleges.

Any advice/comments are appreciated.

chocolateCD - I understand your dilemma, this happened to my friend too. She took 2 languages her freshman yr cause she had an extra free, but then had to drop both due to scheduling conflicts during her soph yr, and then continued one of the languages this year. her guidance counselor told her that she wldnt be able to take the AP course for the language her senior year - so basically her language courses are messed up and looks terrible on her transcript.

However, she did tell me her guidance counselor gave her like a form thing to fill out that you sign and it says you couldnt take certain classes due to scheduling conflicts and factors beyond your control. you should ask your guidance counselor about that.
