How many years of foreign language does Duke recommend?

For Trinity, 3 semesters are required, or 1 semester at above 100-level.
For Pratt, foreign language is not required, though it can cover your humanities requirements.

how many should you take in high school if you hope to get in? I’ve been taking french and I hate it, can I stop after junior year or should I take it senior year too? and since i am pre med and getting good grades would help my gpa a lot could I start in the lowest level french if I end up going to duke?

I don’t know how taking a language class will affect your application one way or another. If I had to guess, not by much unless you take the AP and get a good score or enter some competitions/extracurriculars.

If you know French well enough, they might not let you take French 1. I would recommend learning enough so that you can take a 100-level class so you can finish the foreign language requirement in one semester as opposed to three. That way, you free up two semesters to take things you enjoy or more math and science classes to boost your science GPA.
