foreign languages

i have taken 3 years of japanese (3 credits) + a fairfax county chinese equivalency test (2 credits)
but do colleges look at the credits or the years of a language??

also, i know that colleges like 4 years of a language, but what if i can not fit a language into my schedule (ie im more focused in art) then will colleges take that into account?

depends on the college. if they do require 4, and you really want to go there, you can:

a) try your luck. take the art classes and see if the colleges care that you only took 3 years instead of four

b) drop the art, take the lang.

i'm sure you didn't need me to tell you that.

Or, find somewhere else to take the language, or art.

Don't bank on exceptions.

Try taking Japanese online through a college or virtual high school. I know that there's Spanish and French online. I'm taking French 2B, same as French 4, online. I think Japanese would be harder to find online.

If you take SAT for Japanese and you score well, your knowledge of Japanese will not be doubted.

3-4 years is recommended by most colleges, so not taking 4 won't seriously hurt you.

I'm taking my 4th year of Japanese next year as well!!!
