I have a question about foreign language. How important is it for stanford? This is my second year taking it and the last required year for the state. I can now drop it, but I have been told that it's still pretty important thing for colleges. Can anyone shed some light on it?

Taking two instead of three will not hurt you too much, but there is really no harm in taking the extra year…unless you have some sort of problem with a third year?

Most of the applicants in the applicant pool at any of the top schools will have four years of a language. You don’t want to stand out because you do not have it. Additionally, many colleges now have a language requirement, so if you take the four years, you may be able to test out of the requirement or have an easier time with the language requirement if you continue with the same language.

Foreign language courses may seem like a drag but only 2 years really isn’t enough. At my school 2 is required but 3 is needed for distinctive graduate.
