foreign student with a jd

I am an internaitonal student and i''m still in college, but say I get a JD and proceed to seek employment here. how does the whole work visa thing work?

You had best go to a very good law school and get a job with a large law firm who will be willing to sponsor you. If you can't find a law firm willing to sponsor you, your U.S. degree won't mean much because you won't be able to work here.

hm.. that must mean being a very stellar student now wouldn't it

but what about firms that have global offices. do they usually hire fresh law school grads? or those who have accumulated experience already

Most law firms with offices around the world do hire newly minted J.D.s, but since most of these firms are top firms, you will need to go to a good law school and have excellent grades to have a shot. Even so, that firm will have to spend a lot of time and money getting a visa approved for you, so you will have to be that much more outstanding than their average offeree to merit the extra costs of hiring you.
