OK so i want to major in Forensic Science but there are like no colleges that have it in ohio... if you have any information on this it would be helpful... also i don't know anyone who wants to study this all of my friends think it is too hard and they don't want to study it and they don't understand how i could possibly be interested.

Fairly certain Forensic Science is a graduate major, rather than an undergrad. Your best bet is to major in something like Bio, Chem, Pathology etc.

There are undergrad forensic science programs out there, but I wouldn’t suggest majoring in it. With a forensic science degree, you can only do forensic science, but if you get a general science degree you can get another job if there are no opening for forensic scientists. The best majors for forensic science would be chemistry and molecular biology, although they accept people from other majors, like physics, geology, chemical engineering, and entomology. Depends on what you wanna specialize in.

I think UFindlay has something along those lines.

Thanks for your help! though yes ManOfFaith is right in order to get a forensic degree you need a Bachelors in Biological Science, or other Sciences first… (i looked it up after i read it!)

Here’s a good resource for finding a college you want:

[Forensic and Crime Scene Investigation Colleges and Universities](Forensic and Crime Scene Investigation Colleges and Universities)

Online colleges come first, then scroll down for regular college programs.

I looked into Forensic Science when I first started college. As has already been said, it really makes more sense just to get a degree in a related field, like biology or chemistry. I wouldn’t say that you can ONLY do Forensic Science with a Forensic Science degree, but it puts you at a disadvantage. There aren’t that many Forensic Science jobs out there, and the competition is actually quite high. The starting pay is good, but since it is a government job there isn’t a lot of room for growth. You also have to be able to pass an FBI background check, which means if you have bad credit you are pretty much have no chance of getting the job. (I’m not saying you have bad credit, but if you do then you definitely do not want to get a Forensic Science degree.)

A biology or chemistry degree is the best way to go.

Thank you so much Schmaltz, that website was really helpful!!! :)
