Forget about accept/reject, just upload my transcripts!

Man, I knew it would be hard waiting for an acceptance or rejection from UW, but I'm getting antsy just waiting for them to indicate that they received my transcript info! (I'm a transfer student.)

On December 1st I sent in a transcript from College #1 and a high school transcript in the same envelope and a couple days before that I filled out paperwork for College #2 to electronically send in a transcript to UW. So far "myUW" only shows that College #1 transcript has been posted (on December 3rd.)

I'm worried that they might have accidentally thrown out the high school transcript . . . Long story short, when my high school mailed the transcript to me, the transcript envelope was stuck to the inside of the postal envelope (because the gummy stuff used to seal the postal envelope had adhered to it), so I just sent the whole thing to UW, postal envelope (opened) with the transcript envelope (unopened) stuck--literally stuck--inside it. (I didn't want to risk tearing the transcript envelope, since opening it would make it "no longer official.") I hope they didn't think it was an empty envelope and just toss it out! It seems odd to me that my College #1 transcript was posted so quickly (Dec. 3rd) while my high school transcript (which was sent in the same package) hasn't been.

As for the College #2 transcript, I cynically wonder if my college even electronically sent it like they said they would. There actually was NO OPTION for electronically sending it on the form I had to fill out, but the Registrar people swore up and down they could and it wouldn't be a problem, so I wrote on the form, "Please send electronically to University of Washington admissions." Who knows if they actually did, though.

I've been trying hard to be patient and have resisted calling or e-mailing admissions. It's only been two weeks, I keep reminding myself. They're probably swamped, I keep reminding myself. Still, I'm so anxious in case they did accidentally lose or toss my high school transcript. (College #2 isn't so much of a concern because I can always send in a new transcript and use "Hey, winter quarter grades just came out so here is an updated transcript!" as an explanation.)

How long would you wait before doing something? How long did it take for your documents to show up? Did you ever send two items together and have one posted much later than the other? Would it be detrimental if I just ordered a new high school transcript and resent it?

They don’t want high school transcripts…unless it’s international. I filled out a CWU transcript request form and it took like a couple of days before they put it up.

They want high school transcripts from every single applicant. The more college credit you have the less it bears weight on your admittance, but they just want to verify you’ve met the minimal high school requirements. All undergrad applicants must meet the minimum hs requirements.

I had a close call. I went to two community colleges. I stopped by the community college I no longer attended and filled out a request for them to send my transcript. That was about two weeks before the deadline. They said it would take about 4 weeks for it to upload but I just had a bad feeling. UW couldn’t tell me anything so I stopped by the community college to confirm that they’d sent it. At first the lady said, “Yes! You were charged!” and I said I just wanted to be absolutely sure (I have just had issues with their office being really inefficiently run, call me anal but it paid off…). She rolled her eyes and said if I REALLY wanted to make sure then I could go to a different office. Well, I did and what do you know, the lady was completely dumbfounded how she, “Never got it! Oh my gosh we never lose things!” and they sent my transcript right then. Had I had not gone back and ran around the offices, I wouldn’t have even been able to apply this quarter. (Spring 2010)
