'Forgiveness Rule' - how does UF look at it?

All right, so I had a D in my freshman year and I retook it online and made an A. Both grades ARE on my transcript, but the A replaces the D in my gpa.

So when UF re-calculates my gpa, what do they do? Average the two grades, disregard the higher one, or consider the higher one?

Thanks.

Both will be on your transcript, so I guess you would say its averaged. There is not grade forgiveness policy at UF, like I know some school have.

I had a D first semester too.....so that means I should retake the class to help my gpa?

Once again, I have become convinced that I am spending too much time at College Confidential. I read OP's first few words as "All right, so I had a daughter in my freshman year..."

LOL, Jaime. I did the same thing!

They calculate your grade for the best possible outcome, so if you retook the class, they will only use the highest grade. Also, if you took a class like AP Art History, and failed it, they wouldnt count that either.

Well, when they recalculate GPA they only use core classes, but I guarantee that they will never ignore an F in an AP class, Art History or not....
