Ok so I thought my school automatically filed cal grant for me, because my counselor said so… but when I checke die my financial aid for the university in going there was no cal grant…
So I filled out the application for cal grant and it said it’s processing rn. I filed for fafsa in February and got my gpa verified so everything needed for cal grant is done. do I still have a chance for cal grant? I really need this
The FAFSA is the only app for CalGrant. Check that you have the right college marked as the one you’re attending on the CalGrant website.
I did. Right now it says my application is being processed for cal grant. But, if I filled my fafsa in February but filled out my calgrant today, can I still get aid from cal grant?
Did you call your university’s financial aid office to find out what’s happening?
Calgrant has a budget and needs to allocate millions of dollars for California students who qualify for funds. Cal grant “runs out of money” but, students who end up not using their funds, because of not attending/returning to their universities or whatever else, release more funds that get reallocated and it is not an easy nor FAST task.
Your California public school is supposed to automatically send your high school transcript to the Cal Grant offices for grade verification, but it is up to each student to file the FAFSA MARCH 2 of each year. Calgrant requires the grade verification form each year from your school to see if you continue to qualify.
If you didn’t receive a Calgrant notice about your eligibility, you may still qualify, and need to contact the Calgrant office.
Ok so what if I filled out fafsa but not calgrabt by the march 3rd deadline this year. Do I still get cal grant if I just filled out the application yesterday?
I’m going to call both the school and cal grant to see what’s up 
The only ones who know the answers are the Cal Grant people.
