I accidentally left off the National Merit Commendation from my UC application. Is this award even important in admissions? Should I bother irritating the admissions officer with this?

I don’t think you should worry about it too much. From what I read in the Hout report (UC admissions guidelines) NM Commended did not show up as a significant boost for points. Congrats on finishing your application and good luck.

You could email them an update. Or have your guidance counselor do it, which is less awkward but less likely to happen if you have an ineffective GC like many students do.

Would NMSF give a boost at all?
