I forgot to waive my FERPA rights through CommonApp before I connected it with my Naviance account. I did a little digging, and apparently this is a big mistake - I had thought I could waive my rights after I connected. Now, on Naviance, it shows that my FERPA rights remain unwaived, even though they’ve been waived on CommonApp.
Is there anyway I can undo this? I’ve contacted CommonApp support and will contact my counselor next week. Will this adversely affect me? I haven’t requested any recommendation letters or sent anything in yet.
You will be able to change your FERPA decision up to the point your first recommender submits a school form on your behalf or up to the point that you submit your first application. I ended up emailing my counselor and she didn’t really understand my question. She thought I was asking about how to do it in the CommonApp.
However, I don’t know what she did (or if she even did anything) but when I logged in a few hours later it said that my FERPA Status had been waived at the top. I don’t know if that means the issue was resolved or not; maybe she just needed to log in to reset it or something?

@May6 Did you contact your counselor about this? My daughter had the same issue because we matched her account before getting specific instructions from her school and assumed it would sync automatically after she waived FERPA through CommonApp. My daughter’s counselor confirmed today that she just needs to click a button in Naviance to fix this issue. She said she’s had a lot of students who’ve had this so she called Naviance and got instructions to do it. It’s likely that your counselor knows how to reset it but if not hopefully she’ll call and get instructions to fix it for you. Just wanted you and any future readers to know that it can be fixed by the counselor or Naviance admin at your school.
I have the same problem. I emailed them 5 days ago and got a message to confirm that I must agree to change the FERPA status to “waived”. I replied to their email but I haven’t got any adjustment done in the CommonApp since then. Does anybody know how long would it take to be proceeded? (I’m applying for the EA/ED as an international applicant) !stressing out right now! Thanks!
