I STINK AT SPANISH! im doing well but its not my fav subject and i am not in honors for it.. if i drop spanish and take more AP's will it look bad? or should i continue with spanish 4 and 5 without honors?
thanks!

Lisa, do you have 4 years of H.S. Language? Most selective schools are looking for that. Also, are you aware that there is a language requirement @ Yale? You can test out of it but if you do not pass the test then you may be in language classes 5 days a week. Worth considering.

thats true i think i will stick with spanish

4 Years of Foreign Language? ><; Aw man.

Does "4 years of Foreign Language" mean take a foreign language for four years of high school? or does it mean take the equivalent of a fourth year level foreign language course before completing high school?

Example: being in spanish literature IV H junior year... does that cut it? or is another year necessary even if that would mean taking the equivalent of a fifth year spanish course?

Umm, I think Literature will be sufficient if not better. Literature shows that you have enough grasp of the language to not only speak, read, and write it but to interpret it in its modern and archaic forms (such as with English Lit).

true, but isn't it harder? I think it's curtailed for people who, you know, speak spanish, lol.

If spanish isn't your strong point (not mine either) go for Spanish Language.

ap lit is pretty intense. i'm in spanish lang/lit, and at the end of the year you take one or both. our teacher tells us that the lang is definitely easier, because the ap spanish lit test is at the same level as something like ap masterpieces...except in spanish.

Hell yeah it's harder! LOL

I took it. Barely got an "A". I now have a good 8 years of it under my belt :-D, all honors/AP. I think I'm going to take Italian or German in college because I already know Latin. I'm NEVER taking French (no offense to those who have)... I'm just not the most fond of the French ever since that little ****er in Champagne spit in my face :( and that other girl in Paris sprayed me with a hose for being American :-(.

wow, i never knew the french could be so offensive. i myself take french and have been to france. its a beautiful country, but i don't know about the people

is AP spanish worth it?? is it really really hard?

everyone knows that the french shoot americans on sight. ;)
thats actually only true if you go to the areas that the big midwestern tourists with fanny packs frequent. :)
