Jonathan1: How in the WORLD do you plan on taking three languages in four years, and reaching high levels of them at that?!?

I took AP Spanish 6 as a sophomore and am thinking of doing Arabic next year and taking Spanish at the U.

I'm probably going to take German I sophomore year, German II junior year, and German III senior year.

But if I stick with band throughout high school, then I won't be taking Chinese during school. Maybe online or not at all. :)

i agree with southeasttitan.. to get profieicient in three langauges is ALOT

i've bene studyign hebrew since kindergarden adn i speak in in 3 of my classes every day-- and im nowhere near the fluency levels of Isrealis...

,maybe it depends what u mean by "proficient"

arent u only a freshmen?? u might develop other interests WHILE in high school.. so u might not want to stick by this really intense regiment

Yeah, I know. It's just a tentative plan and my interests might change and I'm okay with that.

^.. alright then *smile

Skipping from Spanish I to III is a tough jump and hard to predict, it took a lot of studying over the summer on my part when I jumped from 1 to 3 and then 4 to 6. The fact that you think you're going to be able to do that with Chinese, which is 10x tougher than Spanish, sounds pretty ridiculous to me--as does the fact that you think you'll be able to take two AP languages at once, one of them which you've only taken for three years.

But good luck. I'd like to see how your plans work out in 3 years.

I had 2nd year Spanish freshman year (first year Spanish in 8th grade), but for 10th grade I transferred to my current school that's a private Jewish school and doesn't offer Spanish, only Hebrew. So when I graduate I'll end up with 1 year of Spanish and 3 years of Hebrew. I still remember a lot of Spanish so I'm going to review it during the summer and take SAT II's in the fall. I wonder how that'll look on my applications haha.

I'm not sure if that's enough Spanish to take the SAT IIs?

French I - sophmore
JapaneseI-IV - Junior/Senior

already know swedish and english
taken french since like 4th grade

hopefully starting arabic next (senior) year

Really? southeasttitan, I knew it pretty well, to the point where I could read Don Quixote and understand about 70% of it. I forgot some vocab, but I know all of the grammar tenses. Think that's still not enough?

Well, your school must be different than mine, because where I am second year Spanish is learning the past tense and how to read picture books. Where in the world do you go that two years of Spanish prepares you to read Don Quixote and know all of the subjunctive tenses?

It was an honors and an accelerated class that had native speakers in it and went pretty fast.

spanish 1-2 (middle school)
spanish 3 (freshman year)
ap spanish (soph)

and.. i'm korean so i speak korean.
also been going to japanese school since kindergarten.
