i know some schools like princeton have formal parties where the guys wear nice shirts and the chicks in dresses. does cornell have these? or is it all just casual frat parties?

LOL if u wanan go out and dance why dont u just go clubbing. NY is only 2 hours away. And formal dances..its more or less a HS thing or at least i think so

actually, NYC's like 4-5 ish hours away, don't think i can accomplish that in a night, flong ;)

Fraternities have a lot of formals.

oh really i ehard it was like 2-3 w/ no traffic. Eh...why would u wanan go to a formal dance..i hate wearing dress shirts to dances it makes my neck all uncomfortable and i hate that constricting feeling..but i guess ppl like dressing up and stuff

its classy, and the frat formals are invite only

2-3 hours to NYC with no traffic.....what's wrong with that phrase? Oh yeah, the no traffic part, hahahaha. When is there ever no traffic?! hahahaha
Oh well, that pretty much rules out that kind of night life unless you can get a hotel.

im from long island so i would know.... nyc is 3.5 to 4 hours away, dependng on traffic.

hahaha seriously flong, when does nyc not have traffic. hahaa

there are also formals that different groups hold that anyone can go. And nyc is def. not an option if it were there would be absolutely no nightlife in Cornell. No one has that kind of time here 3.5-5 is about correct

I thought all colleges held at least one formal?

umm, I've never heard of a "Cornell formal." And chances are, as a girl, if you know any guys in fraternities, then you will get asked to a formal sooner or later. Also, student clubs may also have formals. I think most sororities have formals as well.

Rabbit are formals a good or a bad thing to u?

my friends bro went to Cornell and he said they'd go clubbing in NYC all the time. He said its about 2.5 hours (the way he drives) and they just slept in the car.

um im not sure why you would wanna go to a formal...but they do exist. primarily held by student organizations and fraternities, but as CMB720 said, its usually invite only.

or you pay for them. but'll it'd be like $3-5. And ur brother and his friends must have been a few in 13,151 and "ll the time" must mean a couple times of the year because as a Cornell student hardly anyone has the time or gas money to go clubbing in NYC

figgy: i'm indifferent, just getting an idea of how much dress clothes are needed
