Format for the "try something new" prompt?

Just looking for ideas of what could be done here. Is another essay discouraged?

It can be anything you want. When I tried it I wrote a song parody. But then I opted not to use it because I liked my other essays better.

I didn’t choose that prompt because I knew I’d make it cheesy.

Example of cheesy:

"I went scuba diving for the first time when I visited Australia when I was 10. I had a fear of drowning so the thought of diving into the aquatic world was petrifying to me. However, i knew that if i didn’t face my fears, i would never be able to overcome them. I told myself that I can do this and within the next second, my whole body was submerged in water. I started to panic but I managed opened my eyes despite my erratic state. There, before me, I saw a colorful array of sea life. I saw groups of fish swimming and patches of coral swaying along with the ocean’s undertow. (More descriptive crap here). When my head popped out of the water, I became invincible; my fear of drowning had gone away … if i hadn’t forced myself to try diving, despite my fears, I never would have been able to dream about becoming a marine biologist. And today, I still aspire to be one.

SORRY FOR MY BAD 2 MINUTE ESSAY I WROTE MY GRAMMAR AND EVERYTHING SUCKS I KNOW.
But yeah, don’t go for something like that. Try to think outside the box a bit. Sorry if I wasn’t of any help but this is all I can write to you right now. good luck!

Very similar to the “Take a Risk” prompt from a few years ago. A successful EA applicant I know wrote a computer program that when you clicked on a prompt, the ND logo flashed on the screen.

Thanks for the help. I was thinking about putting a link to a video. Would adcoms be able to open it, or would it be too much work?

Exactly what it is, try something different. I wrote about a time I texted my brother before the night before his national championship race (rowing), and I wrote out the text in a passage. If that helps spark an idea then that’s great, but I just wanted to do it because I feel the topic shows an informal side of the person, which I found cool.

I just applied RD! I wrote a letter to God!

I was admitted EA and had written an Onion-style satire about how overwhelming the college application process is lol

^ LOL; congrats on the acceptance!

haha I had posted it in the essays form for laughs
