Formatting on Common App

I have some things I would like to list in the Additional Information section; however, when I click "Continue," the gray preview text condenses it all into a paragraph. Will the formatting return when I actually submit, or is there something I have to do? Thanks!

bump

Print it out to see how it looks.

Same problem last year, it didn’t fix for me. Colleges are aware of the problem and won’t hold it against you. Just for kicks, try HTML formatting… I read a post saying that’s what you have to do, but I’m not sure if that works.

bump. @intparent and @LaMuniv, I tried previewing my application, and my list of things in Additional Info is all scrunched into one paragraph. Any suggestions? I don’t know HTML formatting, so I wouldn’t know how to go about inserting line breaks. Thanks!

Try typing it up in a plain text format (such as text edit NOT word). Put a line in between each paragraph. Then copy and paste into common app. This is what we had to do last year to get it to work.

Good suggestion, @guineagirl96 . We didn’t use the new format last year (kid applied the year before, so we didn’t need to). You used to be able to upload a Word doc, but I had heard someone say now you can’t and it “scrunches” stuff.

@guineagirl96, just tried it - doesn’t work for some reason :frowning: does anyone else have any other ideas?
