Formatting paragraphs, Important

On the Stanford essays when I print my application from online it doesn’t separate the paragraphs at all. Does anyone else have this problem and is there any way to fix it? Thanks!

You could try hitting enter between paragraphs- before the essay is sent. Once it is sent, there is nothing you can do other than view it.

I'm wondering how the online application process works with regard to review by admissions officers. Any admissions people out there? I mean, do the adcoms review your app and essays online, print out a pdf file, or view it in some other way? It seems that it would be hard to read a pdf file, because the font size is very small, and the lines are single spaced. I'm sure you would not be penalized, I was just wondering how the adcoms do it with online apps. A lot of colleges waive the app fee if you do it online, so this means they actually prefer it, or perhaps it just makes it easier on them in some way. Any comments?

It's okay, I figured it out. It doesn't format it in html format but it separates the paragraphs in pdf format. It doesn't do any special formatting though. To indent you have to use the spacebar. It won't indent the first paragraph at all though.

Yep, the first paragraph won't indent for some reason. Go figure. Since the first would not indent, I didn't indent any of the paragraphs. I figured they would understand the built-in limitations, and I went for consistency. Too bad they don't just let you upload a Ms Word file!

But they do let you upload a file... check it there. It says you can upload .doc, .xls., etc. (for both the photo and the long essay). Not sure about the short essays though.
