TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will speak and sign books at The University of Alabama Nov. 4.

Rice’s campus visit, hosted by UA’s Blackburn Institute, will focus on her new book, “Extraordinary, Ordinary People: A Memoir of Family.”

Rice will participate in a conversation with the UA and Stillman College communities in the Ferguson Center Theater from 10:30-11:30 a.m. She will deliver remarks relating to her book and then participate in a moderated question-and-answer session. The event will be first come first served for UA and Stillman College students, faculty and staff.

From 1-2:30 p.m., Rice will sign copies of her new book in the newly renovated lobby of Foster Auditorium. The book signing will be open to the public. Patrons wishing to have books signed must purchase their books at the event for the cost of $27.

“Hosting Dr. Rice on campus will be an outstanding way for students and members of the Tuscaloosa community to hear a moving story of American success,” said Dr. Philip Westbrook, director of the Blackburn Institute. “It’s truly unique to welcome a former Cabinet secretary to the University not to discuss political issues but to share her life story, one with deep ties to both Tuscaloosa and the state of Alabama as a whole.”

Parking for the book signing will be available for the general public in the large parking lot adjacent to the intramural fields at the Student Recreation Center. The lot can be accessed from University Boulevard at the intersection of University Boulevard and Second Avenue. A special Crimson Ride transit bus will shuttle visitors from the parking lot to Foster Auditorium.
