Hey, my grades used to be all over the place, but with therapy, medication and no more drug or alcohol use, I'm proving myself to be a straight-a student. I only have 12 classes to prove that I've turned things around and then I graduate with an associates in accounting. Where could I apply that has the best accounting program that wouldn't be a complete waste of time applying for?

We would need much more specific information to recommend schools. Geography, grades, desired school size etc etc. What’s important to know about accounting is that compared to other business majors, the school you go to is less important than your personal credentials. Any school with an accredited program will do, work hard for that 4.0 and thinking about how to structure your experiences into a marketable narrative.

My old GPA was probably a 2.5 or so. But with the way things are going I intend to graduate my last year with a 3.5 GPA at the very least. My old college had tons of dropped classes and incompletes in it, too. I like big cosmopolitan cities, Northwest would be nice, Chicago would be nice, NYC is too damned expensive, but east coast is fine. I figure it’d probably be a good idea to go to a school in a place I’d want to start my career, but otherwise, I can suffer through another 4 years in another boring Missouri town. Not even adverse to moving abroad so long as they speak English or I prove to be an exceptionally good student at Swedish or something.

Really, what I’m wondering is if there are colleges out there known for having good accounting programs - a course of study I’m legitimately interested in and want to learn everything I can about. But one that isn’t Notre Dame or Columbia or NYU. Something a little more doable and practical, but still would be a good place to look into.

I’ll tell you what, right now I’m looking University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, but I don’t like my prospects.
