Fortune 500 Finance Internship

Reposted from the internship section (I fell like this section will have more expertise): Hello! I recently accepted a finance internship at a Fortune 500 company (it is an oil company in the top five). I am an accounting major and am still deciding between private accounting and public accounting. I have not taken an auditing class yet, so I do not know my opinion of it.

Which (public or private) is more lucrative? How will this internship look on my resume? Could I use it to get into the Big Four if I decided to go into public? A little about me: I go to a state school where I have over a 3.9 GPA. I am an officer in Beta Alpha Psi and am involved in the other accounting organizations as well.

I am pretty excited about the internship and I appreciate the help!

You can probably answer this question yourself. Yes, yes, and yes. Of course a fortune 500 company internship will look good on your resume. It is a an accomplishment that will be recognized come the time when you look for full-time work.

Both private and public, at first, are not particularly “lucrative.” But, upward mobility intra-corporation or via a switch from public accounting to private (with regards to the Big 4) will lead to fairly lucrative positions.
