@jjloehr Pretty incredible stats! While I know you are disappointed regarding 40 Acres, the Plan II acceptance is a pretty great.
If selected as a scholar, the offer is nonbinding, right?
@psywar , thanks. PII came through with a $10k/yr scholarship, so that softens the disappointment quite a bit and we are grateful and honored. It has moved UT closer to feasible financially. It’s not full ride, but it is 40% of total costs, and makes it much more possible. Still hoping the DS or general schlarships may even add some more, but not sure if that is allowed once the PII scholarship is made. Anyone know?
@jjloehr, It might be that the Plan II scholarship you received is “stackable,” meaning that any additional scholarships up to the Cost of Attendance (COA) at UT will add to award you have received up to the total cost of tuition, fees, room & board. My son received a named scholarship from Plan II (not UT admissions or Texas Exes), and award letter reads:
“In the event you receive additional scholarship or financial aid offers that make your total award package exceed the the COA at the University of Texas at Austin, your financial aid will be adjusted accordingly.”
The 40 acres is non-binding. In fact, several turn it down (to go to another dream school). And if I remember correctly - the UT department scholarships (PII, BHP) do not stack with 40 Acres
58 finalists and around 20 Scholars. Very- truly VERY- few turn 40 Acres down. It is one of the best in the country as far as producing well-connected, employable, well-rounded and confident graduates. Add Longhorn pride, and it is pretty much unbeatable. Only six years old, it is evolving and getting better and more comprehensive, thus more difficult to obtain.
