Forum Home page ??

On the forum home page under the heading of Colleges and Universities
In the spot where you usually see the most recent thread? It says "How much does adderal help? " and it has said that for a YEAR
I would love to see the most recent thread under that section again. Or is there something I don’t understand?
Thanks

This is actually the result of confusion within the software. Colleges and Universities is only a container of sub-forums, and does not actually hold any threads itself. However, instead of just not putting anything there the software has selected a thread from a completely different forum (College Life, in this case). Notice the Ivy League forum heading on the home page as well. Same story, as it contains a “latest thread” that also doesn’t change (which comes from the Internship and Careers forum).

Asking @CCadmin_Sorin‌ if there are any updates on fixes for this. Thanks!

@Lenitus, will raise the issue to the rest of the admin team. We’ll keep you posted if there are any updates. Thanks!

Thanks

@veruca, I just posted a thread about the issue of rotating topics on home page about two minutes ago, and then I saw this. I mentioned the Adderall, too. I had no idea it’s been a year. As I noted on the other thread, there would be more robust convos if they could get more ongoing variety up there.

I agree @lindyk8 that it would spark more discussion if you could see what is going on a bit more.

Good morning…as I alluded to a few posts ago, there are a few forums that don’t actually house threads (but rather are just containers for other forums). I counted three of them, and only those three are showing the same threads for months and months now (again, due to a software glitch, since a user can not post a new thread in these forums: College and Universities, Ivy League, and also the Pre-Med forum). When you mention wanting to see what is going on a bit more, are you just referring to those three instances being corrected…or something else? The Featured Discussions are updated about 3-4 times per week typically and rotate through the last 8.

I used to have the page I wanted bookmarked on my phone and ipad, so overshot the home page. Since installing the app, I now start at home page. All I know is they really really really need to rotate:

FEATURED:
Eating disorder thread up since FEB 1.
Fake diploma up since FEB 10

REGULAR:
Why don’t more universities offer undergrad biz diplomas - up since FEB 4
Adderall up since FEB 12
If you were an employer up since FEB 14
Does college major = IQ up since FEB 15 (even though just 6 responses)
Why do colleges rescind acceptances up since April 2010.

You have to realize a lot of people come up here several times a day. I have heard of ppl who consider CC their FB. Imagine coming up 4-10x a day, or even once a day, on FB and the newsfeed never changes.
Imagine going to huffpost and the newsfeed is essentially the same for one week, let alone for two weeks.

I’m assuming a huge number of interactions on CC are from regulars, so not changing threads daily is a huge limitation to posting.

If a person comes up here 5x a day, in one week they have looked at essentially the same home page posts 35 times. Two weeks = 70 views of the same posts.

I really don’t care one way or the other. It would just be nicer for the regular user, and I think more productive for CC in general, to rotate daily.

Adderal is up since Feb 12 of last year. I don’t want to overstate it -basically I just find in kind of irritating. I come here everyday to check the forums -so if something is up for a year I notice. I would like to see what the “Hot” discussions are on the individual college forums but mostly I just don’t like seeing an unanswered thread sitting there on the discussion home page for a year. I know doesn’t hurt anything. It is just the cyber equivalent of driving by a broken street sign for a year and wondering why it isn’t fixed.
Thanks :

I would also add gunman kills 3 is still on featured. Thread started FEB 11, last post FEB 16. Old old news. Just say in’ more assortment would help. :(((
