Hi. After getting acceptance letter from the university, i was reviewing my application sheet and realized that my ethnicity was wrong. I am supposed to be asian but the application sheet says i am cocasian. Now i have done the personal interview in the university and all the other personal info on the application are correct. I am a little worried that this may cause a problem later… (Perhaps while iam getting student visa) what are your thoughts on this matter? Is this something to worry about?
P.s. my submission of digital photo for making student card has been approved
Hahaha inadvertently it was probably a smart move and maybe why you got in, with all this Asian bias floating around. Just joking, since you’ve gotten this far in the process and even had an interview, I’m sure it’s not going to be a major issue.
If you do, however, get rescinded, then that’s a step towards proving that colleges value ethnicity more than merit. Furthermore, if this becomes public, then it will fuel the arguments of those on the side of the debate to end affirmitive action.
My point is, whether or not you are rescinded, someone’s going to win.
That is silly…of course it is no big deal. Maybe you identify as Caucasian? Is your name “Asian” like? I’m sure they already are aware of this. Don’t worry a minute about it!
Thanks for all of your opinions. I was overly stressed about this matter. Like one of you said the uni probably know about my ethinity already judging from my nationality and photo. If they were going to tackle this problem i think they would have done it some time ago. Thanks for relieving my stress.
If you apply for a government job and make a small mistake, checking the ‘no drug use’ box and a security investigation finds otherwise, you get panned for lying, not for the drug use.
It certainly doesn’t prove that the government doesn’t hire people with a history of drug use.
Colleges generally rescind acceptances and invalidate degrees if they think you lied on your application. They’re hardly going to hold you responsible if one of their offices made an error.
However, since you appear to be an international who has to get through immigration, I don’t think it’s the school you have to worry about. If there are inconsistencies in your file, it could be flagged and investigated. People who lie on their applications can be permanently barred from entry to the US, so I would do what you can to make sure all your records match.
