Founders' Scholar

Did anyone else receive this scholarship ($15,000/yr)? It was included in my acceptance packet and I couldn't find anything more about it on this board or the SMU website. I was just wondering if this was the highest merit scholarship offered by SMU? Thanks and congratulations to all who have been accepted :)

My daughter also received the Founder’s Scholarship (ACT 33, UW GPA 3.8). She plans on majoring in Engineering. Would love to know if she can expect any additional merit money.

Y’all need to calm down about scholarship  Based on an SMU email earlier, departmental awards will come later. And, based on the SMU web site, the big fish (presidential thingy) will come much later. I’ve searched the old threads and it appears to come in March/April.

^^^ Though I am really annoying that I haven’t got the email I quoted nor the big fat envelope. The email I quoted was from someone else!

^I think maybe that email you quoted was from me!
And I agree … I wish everybody would calm down about the scholarships! Be patient, peeps!

I’m pretty sure the Founder’s Scholarship is for girls only – I thought it was for girls who might be involved in professional game development through the Guildhall program. Maybe not, though.

I got Founders’ also (3.8GPA UW, 31 ACT, top 2%)
I wonder what SMU looked at when giving out this scholarship…
I haven’t been able to find any information on this either :(

^ In terms of $$$, I think it is the highest amount of scholarship in this round.

Do y’all think that Founders’ might be a new scholarship they’ve decided to give out this year? It’d explain the lack of documentation on the net :/

Ding, ding, ding - rouxbo is correct! The scholarships’ names, amounts, and the process in which they’re awarded has been redone.

Hi John, I’ve seen that you know a lot about SMU admissions and i had a question. If i didn’t receive any scholarship information/notification in my acceptance letter, does that mean i won’t be getting anything? Or is there still a chance for me to get something by say, late February(ish)? Thanks

Oh dear… I hope those of us that got Founders’ still have a chance at being considered for
Presidential and the other scholarships that come later
Oh well. No point worrying over this right now… Good luck everyone!

^Oh, Jo-ohn! You’ve opened the door to a bunch of questions! :)

Are you allowed to TELL us what the Founders’ is?

I received that scholarship, and today I just received the Distinguished BBA Scholar Scholarship and was accepted into the Cox BBA Scholar Program… has anyone heard about a University Honors Program? Is there one? Have people already been notified?

Thanks!

I got the Founders’ Scholar scholarship too. Today I received a letter stating that I was in the running for the President’s Scholars program. Apparently, finalists will be notified in late February whether or not you are selected to interview for the scholarship. Congrats to everyone!

Has anyone else gotten a presidents scholar letter? I got a cox bba scholar letter and scholarship so I’m just wondering whether they were sent at the same time or not

For those who have gotten these new scholarship letters, are yall close to TX?
I’m way up north and so far I’ve only gotten the holiday card SMU sent out (that sparkly envelope really had me hoping for about 30 seconds).

Thanks! :)

I live in Texas but I got the scholarship notice and the Christmas card on the same day (today). But the mail is still weird because of Christmas so don’t worry.

Received Provost scholarship ($12K) which is less than Founders ($15K). Also Cox BBA Scholar. ACT 35, GPA 4.12, lots of awards/honors. Not sure how these are decided.
