Four ACT Test Day Procedure Questions

Hi, I have four quick questions...I haven't taken the ACT yet so I figure it may kind of help to know to expect..

About how long are the breaks in-between tests (5 minutes or 10?) and are test takers allowed to leave the room during both breaks?

Are test takers given an area/locker to put their stuff(ie, backpack, cell phone, etc)

Since some people do not take the writing tests, are they like an entirely different test that have to be handed out again or is writing section already within everyone’s test booklet?

Can a mechanical pencil be used on the ACT writing section? I know a mechanical pencil cannot be used on the bubble section, but can it be used for the writing section?

Thanks.

1) The breaks are 5 minutes long. I was only allowed to leave the room for the first break.

2) I wasn’t given any area to put my stuff. I just put it under my seat.

3) The pages for the writing section are in the same answer booklet as where you bubble in the MC answers. But, the writing prompt itself is in another booklet which is handed out after everyone who is taking the Writing section finishes the MC section.

4) Technically, no mechanical pencil cannot be used. However, you might be able to sneak one in depending on how strict the proctor is. I sneaked one in for my SAT essay and the proctor didn’t care, but I didn’t try to sneak one in for the ACT essay.
