Four U.S. Military Academy cadets have been charged with violating the Army's zero-tolerance drug policy, West Point officials said yesterday.

They face dismissal from the Academy, and prison if convicted....

Another service academy scandal hits the press...

IF anyone wants to discuss this it is already posted on the USMA forum.
I can't imagine why anyone would want to discuss it on the Naval Academy forum. What is the purpose of posting this here?

Scandals come and scandals go - they happen in the civilian world, the religious world and the military world. Get used to it.

Because service academy parents, regardless of affiliation, are interested in these types of stories.
Since I don't regularly visit the WP threads, this is of interest to USNA readers.
Get used to it.

hey one and all....we were just advised to 'make nice' to each other on these threads by our SuperModerator.....

I certainly appreciate learning of this post - although I had read it on other news sites. This forum is an information-sharing forum, and so helpful information on things related to the Service Academies is most certainly something I personally appreciate.

My heart goes out to the families of these West Point young men....can you imagine what they are going through right now? And the young men involved remember - this is America not Iran - are innocent until proven guilty. We can at least reserve final judgement until all the facts come out.

I salute our Service Academies for their willingness to openly discuss the major issues ALL college campuses face....rape/sexual harrassment/drug use/alchohol use. Thank God they have STANDARDS and are not afraid to uphold them!!

Being a mom of 5 kids all launched into separate colleges, with the exception of one of my other children who went to a Christian University - I feel more secure and comfortable as a parent of a female at USNA than the other co-ed dorms my other 3 children attended. It would have been NO BIG DEAL to have a student with drug, alchohol abuse, sexual issues, etc. It was so common as to be simply the 'norm' in many cases. We parents have to realize that the same young people who go to USNA or USMA go to Yale, or the Univ. of California, or Texas A&M, etc....taking with them the same peer pressures, struggles and temptations that all our young people do who live in this culture of opulence and consumerism.

I vote for all of us holding these young men and their families up in our hearts, thoughts and prayers and be greatful for the example our Service Academies promote for all.
