I took Spanish 3 in my sophomore year.

My counselor told me that that counts as three years of foreign language.

Does it?

I took Spanish 3 in my sophomore year.

My counselor told me that that counts as three years of foreign language.

I've always been told that colleges want the three years in high school, but I could be wrong. You're only gonna be more attractive taking more, anyway, though.

for high school graduation requirements, it does. I am not sure how colleges look at it though.

The high school I went to was on a 4X4 schedule (Four Classes in the fall, four classes in the spring.) I ended up taking French 1 & 2 freshman year, French 3 sophomore year, and French 4 junior year.

It would have been 3 & 4 sophomore year, but I had to take a math classes instead. Anyway, it counted as me having completed 4 years of a foreign language. Therefore, I think it would be the same for you.

Ditto for my school, we are on a 4x4 schedule

I've got block scheduling.

A days and B days.

Four classes on each day.

It sounds like klf1120's theory is correct.
