I am somewhat struggling to fit a fourth year of Spanish into my schedule. I took third year Spanish freshman year (I'm a sophomore now) and am currently not taking a language (literally wouldn't fit as I am in a program that required my two elective blocks). If I take Spanish 4 next year, it will be at the expense of an AP course, and it won't even technically be called Spanish 4 anyway (it is "International Studies"). It is more culture-focused than language-focused. I will have 3 AP courses (APUSH, English, and Chem) even if I do take Spanish 4, but most academic-minded students at my school take 3 or 4 APs in junior year, so I was aiming for 4. As a side note, while I am not FLUENT in Spanish, my grandmother recently moved in with us and she speaks Spanish almost exclusively. It isn't as thought I won't be exposed to the Spanish culture or language!

@sherlockhouse What do you want to be/major you want to go into? Also, provide your schedule, I’m sure you can drop something. 4 years of a foreign language looks phenomenal, especially if you pass the foreign language AP exam or SAT II because it’s really appealing to colleges and jobs even possibly.

I’m in AP Spanish Language right now, and it’s seriously doable as long as you can interpret the language and speak well.

i think its best to take 4 years of a language bc most colleges require it i think. so u might have to take it in college.
but do what feels right i guess.

@guineagirl96 yea thanks sorry i meant 2 but in my high school when u take four years of a langauge the last 2 aare considered for college credit so i mest up lol

If you are at least part hispanic (I’m assuming since Grandma is) and will have her as a native speaker living in your home, speaking Spanish to you, do you really need what sounds like a fluffy spanish course? If I were you, I’d skip that course and go into AP.
