fourth years of language vs. ap science?

I dropped AP French (my fourth year of french in HS) after the first two weeks of school because I HATED it with a passion, and the teacher, and I figure I'm not going to do well on the exam anyways (our french program sucks, lol. average is about a 2 or something) AND getting a C in the class isn't good either.

Sooo I picked up AP Enviromental, which looks pretty interested, only bad thing is that I missed two weeks of class and the summer hw, which I have to make up in about a week without falling behind on what they're doing now, AND take 3 tests ...

Will it look bad to (highly selective) colleges that I didn't take four years of a language but instead opted to take an AP science? I was reading Gatekeepers (book about Wesleyan admissions) and it says they mark you specially if you've taken 4 years of a lang, 3 sciences (bio, phys and chem) as a "plus"...

AP environmental science is considered a "lite" AP (my S self-studied it--not as heavy as AP Chem or AP Physics B or C. Still, my S dropped language after 3 years because he didn't want to jump from regular language to the honors track vs. the other kids who had always been in the honors track. He took 5 APs + marching band for his senior year & got into some very good schools (USoCal & SantaClaraU) with good merit aid, so I don't think it hurt him too much. His major is engineering anyway, nothing to do with languages & USC doesn't even require a language for most engineers anyway.
