Hey guys. So, I got a 5 on AP Calculus BC and emailed FPF about petitioning to take Math 54 on campus. I intend to major in computer science but may change my mind later so I want to get as many prerequisites out of the way as soon as possible!

This is what FPF's advisor told me:

**FPF does not facilitate or approve concurrent enrollment in campus courses. FPF students are limited to the FPF course offerings listed on the FPF online schedule: Course Schedule — Fall Program for Freshmen — UC Berkeley Extension. Most FPF students who have just finished AP Calculus BC with a 5, and who need math for their intended major, will take Math 1B in FPF before Math 53 or 54.

I also wanted to point out two other things to consider:

1) Grades for Concurrent Enrollment courses taken prior to matriculation at UC Berkeley would not be computed as part of your UC Berkeley GPA.

2) One of your conditions of admissions, which are available on your myBerkeleyApplication myChecklist tab, indicates that you have three options for the fall semester:

Attend the UC Berkeley Extension Fall Program for Freshmen

Enroll in a community college, or

Remain out of school entirely

In other words, UC Berkeley Extensions Concurrent Enrollment program is not listed as an option. I recommend checking for permission with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions before considering concurrent enrollment.**

Considering the above, it seems clear to me that FPF will not let me take Math 54 on campus. Does anyone know how previous FPF students were able to petition to take Math 54? Do you have to be in theme housing? Right now I'm thinking of just sticking to Math 1B at FPF but would still like to take Math 54 if there is any hope of doing so.

Any feedback would be appreciated!
