Franklin and Marshall vs. Muhlenberg

Both schools seem pretty much similiar.

Are there any vast differences between the two?

These are not vast differences---Muhlenberg has more of a theater/arts feel. F & M is in a more urban setting. The schools are similar in many ways. Both have excellent pre-med programs.

I think the two colleges are quite different from each other and would suggest that you visit both. My S goes to F&M, and I grew up in the neighborhood in which Muhlenberg is located, so I know a bit about both colleges. F&M has a better academic reputation, is more selective and is harder academically. It also has a significantly higher endowment than Muhlenberg has, which gives it more flexibility in hiring and building. Muhlenberg has particular strengths in pre-med and theatre. F&M also is very strong in the sciences, but generally has strong departments across the board, including music. Lancaster is a much nicer town these days than Allentown, although Muhlenberg is located in a nice part of Allentown. Both campuses are beautiful, generally safe and rather small, although F&M has been expanding. The administration at F&M is particularly dynamic with lots of focus on improving student life and expanding academic opportunities. Both colleges have a liberal arts focus and stress teaching. More students join frats at F&M than at Muhlenberg. Neither of their student bodies are particularly political. Best of luck.
